Journey Home, CT
Journey Home works each day:
To prevent as many people as possible from losing their housing
To increase the speed at which we find housing for anyone who is already experiencing homelessness
To help folks move into their homes and provide furnishings and household items
To help them gain the income and services they need to never become homeless again
Healing Meals Community Project
"Healing Meals nourishes with love. We believe that food is medicine, so we prepare and deliver nutritious meals that support healing for people recovering from acute health issues. The Healing Meals kitchen brings together youth and adult volunteers in a welcoming place where cross-generational creativity and respect form the foundation of our culture. Balancing ‘old-fashioned’ community values and recognition of the relationship between nutrition and healing, we support families facing a health crisis with healthy, organic meals."
Avon Social Services
The Department of Social Services assists Avon residents with social, emotional, and economic needs. Our services help residents achieve self-sufficiency, maintain economic well-being and adjust to different circumstances and events in their lives. Like the Town of Avon itself, our services have grown and changed over the years. Today, our major services are for single adults, families, youth, seniors and the disabled.
Gifts of Love
Gifts of Love helps meet the basic needs of individuals and families in the Greater Hartford area facing short-term financial crisis.
