Mission Statement

Picture
As members of the West Avon Congregational Church, our mission is to reflect our faith in God and Jesus Christ by:
- Accepting the guidance of the Holy Spirit
- Learning and teaching, joyfully, the Word of God
- Loving, in Christ’s spirit, one another and those around us
- Giving spiritual leadership in our congregation and our community
- Providing an open, spiritual, compassionate, nurturing place of worship, learning, and fellowship and
- Committing ourselves and our resources toward making our world a more just, caring, peaceful place.

PURPOSE STATEMENT
We will be the beacon in the community where all who are struggling will have a safe space and the support to meet their
needs with dignity and a sense of belonging to God’s loving family. We will be the lighthouse!

PLAN OF MINISTRY
Food/Basic Needs
We know that many in our community struggle with providing food and other basic needs for their family and themselves. We commit to helping everyone in our community to live a healthy and fulfilling life.

Youth
We believe every child deserves to grow up in a loving, nurturing and safe community that supports and affirms them for who they are. We commit to protecting and supporting the health and well- being of every child, whatever their race, ethnicity, identity, or place of birth.

Mental Health/Substance Abuse
The mental health and substance abuse crisis has affected our families and community near and far. We commit to explore, educate and destigmatize to advocate for mental health and substance abuse recovery for our community.

Worship
We will passionately pursue an open and welcoming worship service that nurtures spiritual enhancement, reflection, and open communication in our calling to follow Jesus’ teachings as we grow, connect and serve together.
