(Note The Christian Education Board wants to express our appreciation for the efforts of the Membership and Community Board for this and all of the events they have sponsored on behalf of the children this year. THANK YOU M&C BOARD). We Say Good-by and We Say Hello (Help Needed) The mission experience is complete, except for the “thank you” dinner (April 13 at 6pm at the Avon Congregational Church). And the year ticks down. In our high school programs it is a time of uncertainty. This year we lose our long-time TFG advisors and are uncertain about the return of our HSSS leader; almost half of our most active members are graduating and going off to college; and we are beginning a new chapter of being advised to by an advisory board. It is a time of change, and it feels like a time to stay the same. Scary. On the way back from our mission trip we discussed the new advisory board, that it will be composed of parents and teens. We agreed to ask Avon Congregational Church to form an equivalent board which would meet with us and allow the two teen populations to join programming when it makes sense. We explored where our mission trip would lead us next year. And had many interested in trying a week-long experience, which we must start planning for now. One of our members, Ryan Budde, announced his plans to go to Mexico on a mission trip sponsored by The Missionary Society of Connecticut and Silver Lake Conference Center, and we pledged our support and prayers to him. It is a time when new and old ideas are coming together for us; Some times colliding and classing, sometimes peacefully flowing. This is not uncommon for teenagers, but people who can help them feel stable and guided are needed. We invite all of you who may be interested to share your interest and concern to Mr. V or the members of the C. E. Board. Bill Vibert, CMYCE
