Avon is a vibrant, growing suburb of Connecticut located in the Farmington Valley. As a point of commute Avon is less than 15 miles west of Hartford as well as surrounded by local businesses not only in Avon but in neighboring Farmington, Simsbury, West Hartford, and Canton.

Avon's strong dedication to its public education has resulted in one of the most desirable school systems in Connecticut with both a commitment to excellent facilities and some of the highest Connecticut Mastery Test and Connecticut Academic Performance Test scores in the state.

Quick Facts:

  • Settled in 1645 and subsequently established as a part of Farmington known as Northington.
  • Officially established as a separate town from Farmington named Avon (original name of earliest settlers) in 1830.
  • 22.6 Square Miles
  • Approximately 17,041 Citizens (2006 est.)
